2025 VETERANS DAY CEREMONY EVENTS – TEXAS HILL COUNTRY
The events listed below are held throughout the Texas Hill Country to honor all veterans of the United States armed forces. Veterans Day is observed on November 11 to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918 (Note: major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice).
Be sure to see our Focus Topic page on Veterans. A very handy and comprehensive guide to special services in the Texas Hill Country that are oriented specifically to military veterans. Very handy tool! Hope it helps our wonderful veterans. It also profiles the VFW and American Legion organizations in our area.
Notice that while Veterans Day is officially observed on November 11, many communities hold events on nearby weekends or alternate dates for a few practical reasons: Overall: Local flexibility helps maximize participation and honor more veterans in meaningful ways. Weekend scheduling for accessibility. If Nov 11 falls midweek then parades or ceremonies may shift to the preceding or following weekend so more people, especially working families and school groups, can attend. This also allows volunteers, veterans, and first responders to participate without taking time off work. In areas with several towns or VFDs, events may be staggered to allow veterans and the public to attend more than one. This is especially common in the Hill Country, where community calendars are packed and mutual aid departments support each other’s events.
More background information is available at:
Notice that many organizations offer discounts to veterans on this celebration day, and some extend that to be available even yearly.
Note, be sure to inquire ahead of your trip to determine any last minute changes.
Thank You For Your Service!
